Amber Hawkes

Amber is a specialist in keeping people safe online, with more than 15 years’ experience building strategy and programmes, conducting policy and legal advocacy across different sectors. Most recently, she was the Asia-Pacific Head of Safety for Meta (previously Facebook), charged with driving regional safety policy strategy and engaging with NGOs and policymakers on the issues of child safety, women’s safety, online well-being (including bullying prevention and suicide prevention) and human trafficking.

Prior to this, she was Chief Executive of an anti-trafficking NGO, leading a team to protect the vulnerable across the APAC region. Amber holds an LLB and BA in Government and International Relations from the University of Sydney. Able to create order from chaos, she enjoys swimming and is learning to play the piano again.
